Colombia’s peso declined again, its worst month since February as investors bet the central bank will continue to let the currency depreciate a week after announcing plans to buy dollars.
The peso fell for the sixth time in seven days, dropping 1 percent to 1,994.22 per dollar. The currency has dropped 3.8 percent in October, its worst monthly performance since a 4.3 percent decline in February.
The central bank said it will spend as much as 3 trillion pesos ($1.5 billion) to buy U.S. dollars and government peso bonds to inject cash into the financial system.
