From NPR.
For those of us in the USA, lately we've been overwhelmed by sales of cheap sweet cherries.
Last week, I paid $.88 USD per pound here in Central Texas(in Euros...about $1.35/kilo). Is that a bargain in the EU?
The cherries were delicious. Dark red. Sweet. Perfect.
Of course, I bought twice as much as I would at the normal price: $2.99-3.99/lb USD.
Why so cheap?
The report from National Public Radio explains about the almost perfect weather conditions in the Northwest, where most sweet cherries grow, that produced this bumper crop.
