Brasilian prosecutors accuse Alcoa of causing destruction in the world’s largest rain forest.
They sued Alcoa’s Brazilian mining subsidiary in 2005 to block the Juruti mine.
But the suit is still pending. Alcoa denies any wrongdoing, has completed construction of a railway, port and processing plants and is now ready to start mining.
